I'm not saying that they are bad but self-help books aren't my thing。 Honestly I expect to find out how self-confidence is constructed and preserved concerning public speech, and how to REALLY gain self-confidence, but this book is just like techniques one can apply to when making speeches。 And the techniques, they might be useful almost 100 years ago when the book was written, but now they sound a little bit too eye-attracting, a little frivolous even。 (Maybe I'm being too skeptical, or maybe I I'm not saying that they are bad but self-help books aren't my thing。 Honestly I expect to find out how self-confidence is constructed and preserved concerning public speech, and how to REALLY gain self-confidence, but this book is just like techniques one can apply to when making speeches。 And the techniques, they might be useful almost 100 years ago when the book was written, but now they sound a little bit too eye-attracting, a little frivolous even。 (Maybe I'm being too skeptical, or maybe I just don't like speeches at all。) I also think this book is more inclined to male readers/listeners but that's probably because it was written so long ago。 。。。more

I loved this book。 Well written, sound and easily applied advice for anyone who considers themselves to be an absolute pathetic loser (as I do)。 Really witty and entertaining read。

Useful to those wanting to improve their public speaking。 The key takeaways are: Practice what you want to say, Speak in a way that your audience will find easy to understand, Improve your diction and a few more。 All in all what you would normally see in a Dale Carnegie book。

An interesting and useful read。 The name of the book suggests a dull monotonous subject with a lot of lectures being crammed into your head and hours of forceful study。 After I started reading it, my opinions however began to change。 It is remarkable how the author has turned an apparently mundane topic into a lively, witty and story-like narrative with examples, anecdotes, excerpt from novels and other books and productive and creative suggestions。 You will feel like getting ready to write down An interesting and useful read。 The name of the book suggests a dull monotonous subject with a lot of lectures being crammed into your head and hours of forceful study。 After I started reading it, my opinions however began to change。 It is remarkable how the author has turned an apparently mundane topic into a lively, witty and story-like narrative with examples, anecdotes, excerpt from novels and other books and productive and creative suggestions。 You will feel like getting ready to write down a speech and practice delivering it, immediately after you complete the first chapter。 I guess that’s where the craft of writing comes in。 。。。more

My second Dale Carnegie book and I went into it without judging the title。 I don't know why I was surprised at just how much focus this book has on public speaking but I guess that's my fault。 As always there are some good takeaways that you can take and apply outside of what this book is aimed at helping you with。 I will take some of these concepts to help me, especially the four areas highlighted in the book on things to consider whilst preparing for your public-speaking。 My second Dale Carnegie book and I went into it without judging the title。 I don't know why I was surprised at just how much focus this book has on public speaking but I guess that's my fault。 As always there are some good takeaways that you can take and apply outside of what this book is aimed at helping you with。 I will take some of these concepts to help me, especially the four areas highlighted in the book on things to consider whilst preparing for your public-speaking。 。。。more

Single word for the book is PRACTICE。 As long as we practice each and every word we speak, we will struggle to put it in our speaking marathon。 I will discuss how it felt while reading the book rather than reviewing this book because this book is all about feeling and building yourself into a person who gives value to your words and meaning to what you have in mind。 Dale Carnegie described in a wonderful way about how to keep our words fresh and the thoughts we convey。 The straight forward solut Single word for the book is PRACTICE。 As long as we practice each and every word we speak, we will struggle to put it in our speaking marathon。 I will discuss how it felt while reading the book rather than reviewing this book because this book is all about feeling and building yourself into a person who gives value to your words and meaning to what you have in mind。 Dale Carnegie described in a wonderful way about how to keep our words fresh and the thoughts we convey。 The straight forward solution to develop Self Confidence is diction。 Hold of your language that you speak。 Words that you speak came from a number of different religion, cultures and languages。 Starting, Finishing and Composing speeches are very important not only at the time of public speaking but also at the time when you are having a talk with someone or in attending interviews。 Humorously explained points and in some places, he explained the fact strictly to follow。 Dedicating sometime in our life to read books instead of reading Newspapers will definitely increase our value。 Sit in a place or grab 20 of the pages in a book and keep it in your pocket, read those pages and once that completes, put it there and take another 20 and so on。 Learning every day and reading every day requires will power and those who do it will thrive。 Speaking of speeches, construct them by looking at the audience。 Appeal to their interests。 While reading the book it feels like you have got a lot of things to change in life to be confident。 I enjoyed reading the book。 It took me longer than usual to complete but worth the time reading it。 These brilliant insights quotes in this book are working very well for me。 Dale Carnegie became direct in convincing readers than in HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE。 I have read this book after reading THINK AND GROW RICH。 Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie feel like an identical person。 Their style of expressing in their books are almost similar。 I love both of them。 。。。more

This is my second book written by Dale Carnegie that i read。 But i must admit, I read it mostly because i loved How to Win Friends and Influence People。 It wasn't as inspirational as that oneHis writing skills are stunning, easy to understand and read。 This book is by public speaking, and he always gives examples from real life persons and events, which is more relatable。 The read was overall interesting and full of useful and applicable recommendations。 I really liked the summary at the end of This is my second book written by Dale Carnegie that i read。 But i must admit, I read it mostly because i loved How to Win Friends and Influence People。 It wasn't as inspirational as that oneHis writing skills are stunning, easy to understand and read。 This book is by public speaking, and he always gives examples from real life persons and events, which is more relatable。 The read was overall interesting and full of useful and applicable recommendations。 I really liked the summary at the end of each chapter, tho i wished it wouldn't be exactly what was written in the chapter。 maybe changing the words or nay of telling?I observed his passion for Lincoln since the first book, but this one does not have a chapter without him。 Which made me interested in reading more about Lincoln。 Despite all the good things, there were some things that i found unlikable: - First, I had the feeling that the book was actually wrote for men。 Why i think that? Because in a few chapter he differentiate the man and woman, and many many times he use the term "men"。 - Second, every chapter was divided in smaller parts。 I never felt the beginning or the end of the small chapter and it felt chaotic。 I had to take take 1 minute brake in order to realize is a new thing。 Many times i had to re-read。- Third, the book title is a bit misleading。 Maybe should be only How to develop skills for public speakings。 I don't feel that it gave me more confidence。 - Lastly, because the book is written many years back, feels unreliable for the new generations。 The technology era。 As i watch many Ted Talks and different speeches, i can see some of his advice not being respected because maybe it passed his time。 Overall was an interesting read but not one who left me speechless。 。。。more

This Self-help book is a great optional reading for people in public speaking courses like Toastmasters。 The chapters are clear, concise, and well thought out。 The examples used are outdated and American, often referring to Abraham Lincoln。 If you take care to notice, there is plenty of redundancies within the book。 Common themes include: study and know your audience to appeal to their senses and ego, infuse your speeches with your own personality and knowledge, prepare and practice adequately, This Self-help book is a great optional reading for people in public speaking courses like Toastmasters。 The chapters are clear, concise, and well thought out。 The examples used are outdated and American, often referring to Abraham Lincoln。 If you take care to notice, there is plenty of redundancies within the book。 Common themes include: study and know your audience to appeal to their senses and ego, infuse your speeches with your own personality and knowledge, prepare and practice adequately, and finally, portray a smart and relaxed confidence in your prepared speech。 While the book is not all encompassing and some chapters are irrelevant to me right now, I recommend you take time to process the information within this book and take from it what you need。 If there is a chapter you don’t need right now, leave it。 If there is 1 chapter specifically that you need, read just that。 。。。more

Yes, I do recommend this book。 This book will be helpful to you if you are shy, want to be a great orator, preparing for eloqution competition。 Read this book and you will be having scientific idea of developing a meaningful and clear speech and how to deliver it。 。。。more
